The Southeastern Outdoor Press Association (SEOPA) is a nonprofit professional organization serving a membership spanning fourteen southeastern states. Members include magazine and newspaper writers, book authors, photographers, radio and television personalities, lecturers, editors, artists, industry representatives and others in the outdoor communications field.

Our Mission

Organized in May 1964, SEOPA is the nation’s premier regional outdoor communicator’s organization. The organization’s purpose, outlined in its Constitution, is four-fold:

A. To promote quality communication of outdoor activities and issues.

B. To promote ethical conduct in communication of outdoor activities and issues.

C. To promote fellowship among persons engaged in communication of outdoor activities and issues.

D. To promote education of members and the general public through communication of outdoor activities and issues.

E. To promote interchange of information with other professional communication groups and organizations

SEOPA is governed by the association officers and a board of directors. Board members are elected annually by the active membership. The executive director handles the day-to-day business of SEOPA, including production of SEOPA News and the annual directory, and details pertaining to the annual conference. Many committees, manned by SEOPA members, also provide a foundation for growth and prosperity of the organization.
